Visiting Greece
One of my favourite destinations in the world is Greece, particularly Athens. Probably because I have very good memories of the times spent there, as tourist with my brother, as stagiare at the Department of Nutrition in the frame of the DAFNE project, or also the blessed fellowship with the nice bretheren from the International Church. So, Mom's visit was an excellent excuse to visit Athens and Greece again.
We enjoyed very good weather, I would say a bit too warm. As you can see below, mom and I climbed to the Accropolis under the morning sun!
A good idea when in Greece, particularly in summer is to take a one-day cruise. First of all, it gives you an overall impression of Greek Islands, you travel in a nice boat, with airco and all facilities, and the movement of the boat is indeed refreshing. The next picture, Mom on the cruise boat.
Here, Mom at the Poros port, with some nice yachts behind.
This is at the beautiful island of Hydra, where it was allowed to swim (should we had known that!). The temperatures were rising and the sun simply burning!
Then we have a view of an Orthodox church in Egina island. This church was built followng Istambul's St. Sophia's model. The temperature at that moment was of 41 degrees Celsius! Fortunately the buses had airco!
Later that day, we had some snacks at a typical Greek taverna!
Back in Athens, we enjoyed the hospitality of my very dear friends Ada and Panos. It was also the first time I met Ilida, her one year old daughter. We really had fun together at their lovely appartment, where we had a very good taste of the traditional mediterranean diet (maybe i tasted too much of it! But nothing as home made food! Thanks Ada and Panos)
Finally, and to close, here you have a nice view of Athens, Syntagma Square, the Accropolis, and the Pireaus Port, by night from Likabettus Hill.
Blessing to all!
